Mark King
PRESIDENT
Mark King, 62, a native of High Point, North Carolina and resident of Hilton Head Island for 41 years, attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina and studied Business Administration.
He began his career on Hilton Head as a golf professional but quickly gravitated to overall resort management, serving as Vice President of Resort Operations for the Hilton Head Company for ten years. There, his management responsibilities included seven golf courses, three racquet clubs, a marina, eight retail stores and several professional golf and tennis tour events. He later served as Senior Vice President for the combined Hilton Head and Sea Pines Companies, managing eleven golf courses, five racquet clubs, three marinas, twelve retail stores and a number of golf and tennis events, including the Heritage Classic and the Family Circle Cup.
In 1986, Mark established The Club Group, Ltd., a full-service resort management company, where Mark currently serves as President. The Club Group managed Harbour Town on Hilton Head Island for seventeen years, from 1988 – 2005. Harbour Town properties and facilities under The Club Group management included the 100-slip marina, twenty-five retail stores and the surrounding restaurants and water sports operations.
The Club Group currently manages six homeowner associations and a 66,000 square foot shopping center. Mark also serves as President of Lighthouse Realty, a full service real estate company, Lighthouse Retailers, Ltd., an affiliated company which leases and operates the Harbour Town Lighthouse Museum as a retail operation and Cornerstone Golf Partners, an affiliated company, which currently manages four golf courses in Georgia.
Mark is a past President of the Hilton Head Island Rotary Club and serves on a number of community and property owner boards.
Mark and his wife, Leslie, live on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
